Dear Cupid Connections
Connections Guide
Thoughtful dating, centred on music. Here's how everything works — browsing, Likes, chats and the settings that keep you in control.
Overview
Connections is Dear Cupid's optional dating space. It's separate from your free Dear Cupid account — hiding or deleting your dating profile never affects Ask Dear Cupid, The Love Lounge or anything else.
Connections is currently in Beta, ahead of our official launch on 14 February 2027. Some profiles you see during the beta are clearly labelled fictional profiles, there to help testers try things out.
Start by completing My Profile: about you, what you're looking for, your music, lifestyle, photos and privacy. Your progress saves as you go.
Music & browsing
Your music. Choose up to five favourite artists or bands (optional) and answer a few music questions. Shared taste is a natural way to start a conversation.
Connections shows profiles one at a time, based on your preferences. Tap a card to see someone's full profile.
The Mix highlights people whose music overlaps with yours, including Top of the Charts and New Entries.
Next moves you on to the next person. Changed your mind? Undo Next brings back someone you moved past within the last five minutes, on every membership.
Likes, songs & Gold Discs
Like someone to show interest, or send a song that says something words can't. After you send either from a full profile, you return to browsing.
Daily allowances appear in the strip at the top of Connections and The Mix:
- Free: 2 Likes and 2 songs a day
- Premium: 20 Likes and 10 songs a day
- Exclusive and Founding: unlimited Likes and 20 songs a day
You can have one pending Like or song with each person at a time. Requests that go unanswered expire after 30 days.
Gold Discs are a special way to stand out, available on Premium and Exclusive. Premium includes 1 a week, Exclusive and Founding 3 a week, refreshed each Monday (unused weekly discs don't carry over). Purchased Gold Discs never expire. Sending one doesn't use your Likes or songs.
Chats
When someone accepts your Like or song, you can chat in Chats.
You can end a chat at any time. The other person sees a neutral message and isn't told why. There's no automatic rematch — reconnecting is only possible if you both explicitly agree.
Ended chats are kept for 90 days, then removed.
Settings & privacy
Incognito. Step back from browsing without deleting anything. You won't appear to new people while it's on.
Appear in Top of the Charts. A discreet setting in My Profile, off by default. Turn it on only if you'd like to be featured in The Mix charts.
Photos have location and camera details removed and are reviewed before anyone else can see them.
Sensitive choices such as faith or ethnicity are always optional. "Prefer not to say" saves nothing, and we never guess what you've left out.
Hide or delete your Connections profile whenever you like from My Profile. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
Safety
Take your time. Keep conversations on Dear Cupid until you feel comfortable, never send money, and meet somewhere public if you decide to meet.
Block stops all contact both ways. Report is private — only our moderators see it, and staff see only content that has been reported or authorised.
Please follow our Community Guidelines. If you're ever in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK.
