Care & trust
Community Guidelines
The Love Lounge is a place for grown-up conversations about love, relationships and companionship. These guidelines help keep it warm, safe and worth visiting.
What we encourage
Kindness and mutual respect
Write as you would speak to someone sitting across from you. Disagree with ideas, never attack people.
Thoughtful, constructive conversation
Share experience rather than verdicts. Advice is most welcome when it's offered gently and without assumption.
Respect for different lives
Members come from many backgrounds, cultures, faiths, orientations and life stages. Every one of them belongs here.
Sensitivity to difficult moments
People may be writing through heartbreak, bereavement, illness or loneliness. Take care with your words.
Privacy and personal boundaries
Share only what you're comfortable with, and never share anything private about someone else.
What isn't allowed
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation or threats of any kind
- Discriminatory, hateful or demeaning abuse
- Impersonating another person or misrepresenting who you are
- Spam, advertising, scams or commercial solicitation
- Unwanted romantic or sexual approaches, or sexually explicit content
- Sharing someone else's private information — names, photos, contact details, workplaces or locations
- Asking members for money, gifts or financial details
How moderation works
Every new conversation, reply, edit and profile photograph is checked before it appears. An automated AI tool looks at it first: clearly suitable contributions can be published straight away, anything uncertain is held for a moderator, and contributions that clearly break these guidelines are not published. Ordinary, frank adult conversations about sex, relationships, divorce, grief or mental health are welcome and are not blocked for being sensitive.
If the automated check stops something you shared, you can use Request a review in My contributions (or on your profile for photographs) and a person will look at it. The automated tool never warns, suspends or bans anyone — only our moderators do.
If something concerns you, use the discreet Report option. Reports are private and seen only by moderators. Content is never removed simply because it has been reported several times — a person always reviews it.
Depending on what has happened, moderators may hide or remove content, issue a warning, suspend an account temporarily, or ban it permanently. You can also block any member: they won't be told, and neither of you will be able to reply to or react to the other.
Not an emergency service
The Love Lounge is a community, not a crisis service, and it isn't a substitute for professional medical, legal or psychological advice. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (999 in the UK, 911 in the US). In the UK you can reach Samaritans any time on 116 123, or Refuge's National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247.
These guidelines form part of our Terms of Use and may be updated as the community grows. To raise a safety or moderation concern, use the Report option or email info@dearcupid.app. See also our Contact Us page. DearCupid.app is operated by Dear Cupid Limited.
